Icon Reviews for The Broken String...

i seriously doubt justin or christian believe they've made mistakes on this album. and i, for one, agree with them.

edit: bad wording - i don't mean that they think they're perfect. i just mean that they did the best job they could. if they did make mistakes in the arrangements, it's something that will come with hindsight, not right away.

the eps were demos. you don't compare the album to the demos when you're writing a review. that's being a fan, not a critic. the album should be reviewed by someone who hasn't heard the ep versions of these songs. it should be up to the fans to determine which versions we find superior. the general public who is looking for a new indie pop band to support, doesn't care if the new versions are better than the old or not, because they've not heard any.

i guess what i'm saying is that pitchfork wrote a review aimed at fans of the band, not at giving a new listener something to use as a gauge for whether or not they will like this album. and that, to me, is a poor choice.

as i said, pitchfork will be pitchfork.
