You want me to write it?! I will give it a try this weekend ... I know that I once did something like that for WAS, but I think that I know alot more about them than BA.

The FAQs that used to be on the site should probably be there, though they might not be fully accurate currently:

What's the story behind the band's name?
Christian and Justin met many of their most beloved friends and had some of their best times while living on Bishop Allen Drive, in Cambridge's Central Square.

Who was Bishop Allen Drive named after?
Bishop Richard Allen (1760-1831) was the founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and a key conductor on the underground railroad.

What do the people in Bishop Allen do besides be in the band?
The four of us work on the band full-time. We are living off savings from the jobs we quit to play music. Three years in offices paid for the recording and release of Charm School. It also gave us good practice at mailing things.

What happened to Margaret? What happened to Bonnie?
Margaret and Bonnie are NOT sick. Please stop sending flowers!

Back in May 2003, after just a few shows, but, sadly, also after we got the CD covers printed, Margaret decided to focus on her career in children's publishing, where she is doing a bang-up job. Bonnie left after our first tour to teach second graders in Brooklyn. Being in an obscure rock band is a lot more work than it seems, and both of them wanted to devote themselves to their day jobs.

We parted with them on good terms, and we have excellent replacements. Jack, former glockenspielist, tambouriner, and melodicator for our live set, plays drums now. And Christian (C.O.), also formerly of the glock, the 'bourine, and the melo', now plays bass. Send them a hello.

Both Jack and C.O. are solid old friends of ours, so they should be in Bishop Allen for a long time. It's good to have them around, too, as we're recording now. Justin & Christian played everything on Charm School, and it'll be nice to have some other instrumental contributors this time around.

Does the band have a label?
No. We do everything ourselves: recording, production, design, booking, and promotion. Our friend Blake Zidell helps us with publicity. We got national distribution through Surefire Distribution, the same people who put out our records when we were 19 and calling ourselves the Pissed-Officers.

Who writes the songs?
Justin and Christian. It usually works like this: one of them has a piece of something he's been singing to himself, maybe a tune with a few words. He mumbles it around the house until the other notices, and then the two sit down together to round out the melody and the structure, adding other parts that have been kicking around as necessary. Then Christian goes off to complete the musical arrangement and Justin works out the rest of the lyrics.

Wasn't "Eve Of Destruction" originally sung by Bob Dylan?
"Eve of Destruction" was a '60s protest anthem, but it was sung by someone named Barry MacGuire, and it was written by P.F. Sloan. Our version borrows the title from the original and a melody line from its refrain, but we've rewritten the verse and very nearly all the words. The people listed at the beginning are our friends.

We hadn't heard the '60s recording of "Eve Of Destruction" until after Charm School was done; our version is derived from The Dickies' cover of the Sloan song, which was a hit for them in '78. We couldn't understand The Dickies' singer, his being punk and fake-English and all, so we wrote our own words.

I'm a tambourine player, and I'm just starting out. Do you have the tamb tab for your songs?

Of course:

What equipment did you use to record Charm School?
We recorded Charm School on our Yamaha AW4416, a 16-track digital audio workstation. We know: digital's not so hip. A bDx tube pre-amp was used to add both "warmth" and "coolness" to the sound (of course ΔH=0).

For a microphone, we used a Shure KSM32. We made the album in our bedrooms, recording a single track at a time, as the neighbors and our gumption would allow. Because we could only have one instrument going at a time, we were able to get by with just that one mike.

We mixed the record on a ProTools station borrowed from CA Sound.
