3/5 stars. Not too bad. But the review was rather unhappy, I thought.

"Brooklyn's Bishop Allen used to be a really good Modest Mouse ripoff band-- see "Busted Heart" from their 2003 debut LP Charm School. On "Flight 180", from the April edition of their EP-a-month series, they're a really good Arcade Fire ripoff band. Ah, the ebb and flow of indie rock.

Occupying the same milieu as Liz Phair's "Stratford-on-Guy" (i.e., looking out an airplane window and having, like, really deep thoughts 'n stuff), "Flight 180" makes up for its lyrical shortcomings with a majestic buildup that recalls "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)". It begins with just a bass drum throb and feathery acoustic guitar picking, then blossoms into Philip Glass piano arpeggios, moaning violin, and, of course, those ubiquitous gang vocals. The payoff isn't as satisfying as it could be, but hey, it's been a year since we heard a note of new music from Win and Rgine and co. This'll do. [Amy Phillips]"

ps: Modest Mouse ripoff band? I mean, I get the comparison, but "ripoff?" Really?
