Thanks for asking!
March is amazing. It shows new levels of growth and depth. The band seems to be pushing itself and I think the listener is rewarded. Best songwriting yet. I'm starting to wonder if they are already to far past Clementines in their growth so when the album finally does get released it won't seem relavent.
History of Excuses is fun fun toe tapper. The chorus is energetic and I think everyone can agree that the guitar is kickin. I can't think of many bands with only about 20 songs released and two of them feature prison! (BA may stand for Bad Asses after all.)
The Monitor - Great song. Super visuals. Blood, blue, grey etc.. Love the handclapping "and were singing La da da da da da!" It's just pure pop heaven when the harmonies kick in.
I seem to be in the deep minority in thinking this is the best song on the EP. Maybe I'm a sucker for the tamborine but the whole thing is just so damn solid. I originally thought hints of Paul Simon, then undertones of Van Morrison but now I hear Springsteen during "Nebraska" but I'm sure that is wrong as well. The guitar work complements the vocals perfectly in the last part of the song. Its a song that gets better as it goes along.
Winter coat is so honest. I love what it is saying. Maybe it hits to close to home. It sounds like the happy 1960s but the lyrics are much more interesting then I expected. I just wish it had more feeling behind the vocals. He's saying he is sorry but doesn't really mean it. Who hasn't done that at least once?
