For a while, I kept trying to kill myself. Because of this, I was spending my money rather lavishly. One of my purchases was the
Charm School album (I hadn't heard a single song from the album--I just thought it looked like something I would love). Although it didn't bring me out of depression (no music ever will on a permanent basis), it did stop me from killing myself. I mean, the line itself, "Things are what you make of them," seems so true to me.
My thought process, pre-"Things Are What You Make of Them":
Life sucks, and I want to die. I think it's time I kill myself.
My thought process post-"Things Are What You Make of Them":
Yeah, life sucks, but so do Harvey Danger, and I enjoy them anyway, so I might as well not kill myself.
