few things.....

1.) I will not accept a single cent for any aspect of any recording I do of a live show (unless hired by the band). (I WILL accept beer or shots from anyone.)

2.) My taping setup is:
A single microphone (yes, my recordings are in mono.) plugged into the microphone jack on my laptop (yes, laptop, not analog/DAT/MiniDisc/other). The microphone is clipped by a microphone stand, but the mic-stand itself is only about 2 and a half feet, so it needs to sit on a table/ledge/on top of something that is high off the ground as to record over top the crowd. I do not use a preamp or any other mixing hardware. I use SoundForge 7.0 software to do the actually recording.

3.) I don't know what cables I need to be able to patch out of the soundboard, thus I resort to the single directional microphone.

4.) *If* I do go (remember, coming from Philly), and *IF* I tape (see above, that setup can be a hassle/risky), regardless, IF it gets taped, there are no gaurentees that it will come out in pristine quality, so it sucks if you all are gonna get your hopes up and I fail to perform.

Well, after writing all that, and re-reading all the posts, I am going to make even more of an effort to make it to Pianos this friday, with taping shit in tow. And, if it doesn't work out this month, we still have 9 (!!!!) more months left....
