no, it's not drastic. it's called preservation of morals. there is obviously a better way to do things. the internet has levelled the playing field now and people can discover bands like bishop allen whether they are on a major label, independent label, or self-releasing their music. three or four years ago a friend sent me mp3s of
charm school and since, i have paid to attend three of their shows, brought a couple friends, me and friends paid for cds and merchandise. try-before-you-buy is a good system, it's time-tested, and if bishop allen signs to an riaa member label, then doing this with their music will be against the law.
