I missed what appeared to be the majority of this conversation about who owns what when it comes to music.
However I thought this seemed fitting. The Radiohead album "OK computer", if you read through the liner notes you'll find the following written: "Lyrics reprinted by kind permission, even though we wrote them". Isn't wonderful how you need to get permission from a publishing company to reprint what you wrote.
